Jyotish measures from the fixed stars. Because the equinox drifts, the two zodiacs have separated by around 24°, so your sidereal Sun usually sits one sign earlier than the one in a newspaper horoscope. The Lahiri ayanamsha used here is the standard adopted by the Indian calendar reform committee.
